Funzi is a Finnish startup working towards solving the global problem of access to quality education. They deliver learning to people around the globe, and without cost for the end user. Funzi mobile learning service works well on all mobile devices with an internet connection and a web browser, including feature phones. They work with content experts to create engaging and practical mobile courses to help individuals build skills to improve their lives and gain meaningful, sustainable livelihoods.
Funzi offers massively scalable access to quality learning through technologies that are widely available and accessible to everyone, also in emerging countries where access to traditional forms of education and training may be limited. They have over 6,000,000 users worldwide and a robust network of international partners.
Potential refugee impact
Funzi facilitates the creation, delivery, and certification of free courses to refugees across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. In 2017, UNDP Syria partnered with Funzi to deliver mobile learning to help strengthen the resilience as well as social and economic stability of individuals and communities in Syria. Funzi has also translated their refugee and migrant integration courses such as “About Finland” into Arabic and Somali to service local immigrant and refugee populations.
Funzi is an EdTech social enterprise based in Espoo, Finland.
