An Iraqi refugee now living in San Diego, May Hasan started “Zahra Designs” to offer unique hand-made clothing and accessories inspired by her cultural heritage. She would like to grow her business and hire more women, and also supports other women entrepreneurs with a portion of her business income. Zahra Designs’ Etsy shop includes scarves, abayas, masks, and other unique accessories. And, you will be able to spot one of May’s designs in the upcoming Ms. Marvel show!

734 Coffee
Founded by Manyang Kher, a Sudanese refugee since age 3, who is now living in Virginia, 734 Coffee is about building a brighter future for other displaced people from Sudan. 7˚N 34˚E are the geographical coordinates for Gambela, a region in Ethiopia where over 200,000 displaced South Sudanese citizens now live after fleeing war, atrocities, drought, and famine in South Sudan. The company’s coffee is harvested by growers in the Gambela region, and after it is brought to the US, sales proceeds are invested in scholarships and education programs for refugees.

Founded by Mohamed Malim, a Somali-American born in a refugee camp in Kenya, Epimonía is a fashion label with a central mission of supporting refugees. The company upcycles material from life jackets that were worn by refugees on the Mediterranean Sea and discarded upon arrival in Greece. All of Epimonia’s products not only serve as a symbolic gesture of support and solidarity for refugees around the world but have tangible impacts on the lives of refugees through multiple campaigns and partnerships.
My Beachy Side
My Beachy Side’s mission is to drive the financial empowerment of disadvantaged women by providing them with a sustainable income hand-crafting resort wear. Founded by the Turkish-American entrepreneur Gamze Ates and applying values of free trade, the company aims to be an example that leads the luxury fashion industry towards a higher standard along three pillars of sustainability. Their manufacturing site in Diyarbakir, a city in Southeastern Turkey near the Syrian border, provides work for over 500 disadvantaged women, including refugees.

Inaash Association is dedicated to improving the lives of women in the Palestinian refugee camps of Lebanon For 50 years, Inaash has provided opportunities for thousands of women to earn income and provide needed financial support for their families. Now, they are increasing their efforts to globally sell their high-end embroidered products preserving the Palestinian heritage.
Threads of Hope by Malaika Linens
Malaika Linens in Egypt offers ethically made luxury products. All Malaika products are a work of art, incorporating complex hand-embroidery, pulled thread open work and silk-screen printing. sales. Threads of Hope, founded by Malaika Linens in Egypt, is a tuition-free training and production center for hand-embroidery and traditional Egyptian crafts, serving refugee and other disadvantaged women and providing them with income.
Fasika Design
Fasika Design is a family business where 6 sisters collectively put their passion into showcasing the vibrant Habesha aesthetics and culture to the world. It grew from a small operation with 6 siblings and ten employees in 2017 to a robust online business and four outlets that also export internationally, creating jobs for 33 refugees (primarily women) and 41 locals.
