The Refugee Investment Network (RIN) is the first impact investing and blended finance collaborative dedicated to creating durable solutions to global forced migration.

The RIN connects investors with refugee ventures, builds the field of refugee investment, changes the narrative around the contribution of refugees, and advocates for more inclusive economic policies. Ultimately the RIN aims to create quality jobs, economic growth, and measurable improvements to the livelihoods of millions of refugees and the communities that host them.

Today, more than 70 million people have been forcibly displaced worldwide, making the resulting dilemma the defining social crisis of our time. Refugees face serious challenges, often stemming from underinvestment and backward and restrictive labor laws. Yet the data show they have enormous untapped potential. Indeed, refugees are resilient, entrepreneurial, and investable.

As both the magnitude of the crisis and a new appreciation for the corresponding investment opportunity grow, investors are looking for a way to invest in refugees. The RIN bridges the gap between refugee investments and a continuum of capital that spans asset classes and geographies, as well as return and impact expectations.

We focus on four pillars:

Mobilize Investment Capital

Build the Field and Infrastructure for Refugee Investing

  • Develop and support adoption of the “Refugee Lens framework and criteria for sourcing and marketing refugee enterprises
  • Define standards and metrics for measuring refugee impact
  • Support accelerators and incubators to grow the refugee investment pipeline

Change the Narrative Surrounding Refugees

Advocate for Policy Change

  • Use data, evidence, and the economic leverage of our investment network to improve macro and micro policies in support of refugees, including the right to work, the right to bank, and the right to access housing
