John Thon Majok is the director and founder of the Refugee and Forced Displacement Initiative (RAFDI) at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars where he provides program leadership and strategic direction. Previously, he developed strategic outreach plans for U.S. government exchange alumni at the U.S. Department of State and managed study abroad scholarship programs. Majok’s insights into forced displacement are rooted in personal experience as a former South Sudanese refugee. His expertise encompasses forced migration, resilience, and refugee integration, subjects on which he frequently speaks and writes. He graduated with honors from the University of Arizona with a BS in Public Administration and holds an MPA from George Mason University. Majok serves on the Board of Directors of Jesuit Refugee Service USA.
