On World Refugee Day 2019, The Economist Intelligence Unit’s Leo Abruzzese joined the Refugee Investment Network (RIN) to announce the Refugee Opportunity Index (ROI), to be developed by the EIU in collaboration with the RIN.
The more than 70 million forcibly displaced people worldwide face serious challenges, often from restrictive and confusing labor laws and other backwards policies, which limit their potential as entrepreneurs. The ROI will shine a light on policy shortcomings and serve as a tool to incentivize policy reforms that support refugee economic integration and inclusive growth.
The event, held at the Rockefeller Foundation in New York, brought together investors, entrepreneurs and humanitarians to celebrate RIN’s formal launch and make a call to action to create durable and inclusive solutions to global forced migration.
